Part of the reason we moved into our RV was to downsize and minimize.
To get rid of Stuff.
We felt we were owned by Stuff because we had to have a house(and a mortgage) to keep Stuff. We worried was Stuff safe? If we left to go on vacation or to the grocery store would someone steal Stuff?
Stuff even lived in boxes in the barn because we didn’t have room for it in the house.
We were drowning in Stuff.
Stuff was king and we were Stuff’s serfs.
We hated it.
But, wasn’t that how we were supposed to live?
Live for Stuff.
LIke an addict jonesing for their next fix, we were always on the hunt for more Stuff.
But, then I realized all this insanity about Stuff had to come to an end.
Because Stuff is an addiction. Stuff was a big monkey on our backs.
So, I did it. I kicked Stuff out.
I sold Stuff, gave Stuff away. I even set Stuff on fire.
It was the best thing I have ever done for me or my husband.
We are new people. No longer controlled by Stuff.
Instead of paying for, cleaning, or worrying about Stuff… we breathe, hike, ski, fish, travel and enjoy our stuff free life.
What a relief.
But, I am ever vigilant to make sure Stuff doesn’t rear its ugly head in our life again.
So, as part of my spring Stuff patrol, I’m going to try Project 333. Project 333 is a minimalist fashion challenge that requires that you dress with 33 items of clothing for 3 months.
Do I even own 33 pieces of clothing? I don’t know but I’m going to go find out…
Stayed tuned for more on my move to a very minimalistic wardrobe.
Thanks for reading and happy travels!
