Your money or your life? Comfort vs. Courage? Do you want to work your entire life to buy a bunch of crap that means nothing to you in the long run. Or, do you want to work less and have more fun by traveling and having adventures?
It’s all about mindset.
If you believe that your job and the amount of money you make is who you are, then you’re sunk.
Personally, my job isn’t who I am.
I believe that everything I own doesn’t have to be bright and shiny and new.
Most people I know think I’m crazy.
Why didn’t I want to drive a brand new car and live in a big, brand new house, and always wear brand new clothes?
I tried to explain.
I’d say, “Why do you want to work 40 plus hours a week to just turn around and give your money away to someone else for all this new stuff? Why don’t you want to live more conservatively and keep more of your money?”
They’d say, “Well, that’s what we’re supposed to do. Work, eat, sleep, work, eat, sleep, so we can buy more stuff.”
That to me is craziness.
Not to mention that ever since I was little I’ve watched people work their entire lives, retire, and then get sick. So sick they never got to follow their dreams.
I decided early on I wasn’t going to be one of those people.
And, I’ve done some really cool stuff. I’ve traveled to Europe twice, competed heavily with my horses, and never once committed myself to long-term overspending. I’m a marketing professional’s nightmare. lol
There was just no way I was going to work my entire life to:
- To make someone else rich
- Make my entire existence be about earning money so I could be trapped by a mortgage payment.
- Or, work at a job, that I hated once again to make someone else rich.
For the most part, I’ve been successful at alluding these societal traps. Until I got married and then I tried to be “normal.”
But, no matter how hard I tried to conform, I couldn’t. So, now we live full-time in our RV and we travel the US staring at some really cool shit.
What have I spent my money on?
I’ve spent my money on memories.
Here’s a link that proves I’m not the only one who doesn’t want to give away their life to “the MAN.”
Have fun and RV!
